Peter Quirke FCA, JP

Our senior director, Peter joined the firm in 1972. His experience includes an extensive grounding in taxation law and procedural matters which was obtained through the Inland Revenue Department. In addition he has wide commercial experience with both Clifton Knitwear, a subsidiary of UEB, and Laminex Industries, a subsidiary of ACI, as company secretary and company accountant. These experiences have been invaluable in providing knowledge to assist in advising his many commercial clients.

Peter enjoys his many farming clients whom he admires greatly. Several of these use management techniques that are very advanced and lead their particular industry. His focus is on assisting clients to meet their goals. Also likes to support the local community of Kaiapoi where he lives with his wife Christine

Outside Interests

Peter is actively involved in golf, bridge, running and the gym. He also enjoys following the rugby, cricket, and tennis. Outside his sports interests Peter enjoys time spent at the theatre with his wife Christine.

Donald Robertson B Comm (Ag), B Comm CA

Don joined the firm in 1990. After completing a farm management degree at Lincoln College and working in the rural sector for three years he obtained his accounting degree. Employed at Price Waterhouse from 1987 until his appointment, his strengths include a strong grounding in the farming sector and ongoing commercial advice for a diverse range of clients.

Specialist areas are restructuring and succession planning for a wide variety of clients.

Don is involved as a director of a number of companies. In particular a manufacturing client who exports the majority of their products off shore.

Outside Interests

Don enjoys spending time with his wife Janet horse riding, following his boy’s success in gymnastics and trampolining, managing the family hobby farm and traveling when time allows.

Stephen Kelliher, B Comm and Management, CA

Steve joined the firm in 2006, after completing a diverse range of accounting related assignments. He attended University at Canterbury and Lincoln. Steve gained his Chartered Accounting qualification while employed at Ernst & Young from 1994 until 1997, before spending 3 years overseas based in London working in the Equity Markets for Deutsche Bank and J P Morgan. Following his return to New Zealand he has worked in the corporate world first as a Design Engineer for a treasury software company and then as a Financial Controller for a medium sized import, wholesale and retail operation. His strengths include a strong grounding in the farming sector and sound commercial knowledge gained from his previous experience in the corporate world.

Steve enjoys working with the many types of Farming and Corporate operations that exist in the North Canterbury area and gets professional satisfaction from working with clients to attain their business goals.

Outside Interests

Steve enjoys time spent with his wife Sarah and their two young children Angus and Jessie. He is actively involved in basketball, touch, running, skiing, and the gym. He also enjoys following rugby and cricket. Outside his sports interests Steve enjoys spending time with his friends.

Sarah McIntyre B Comm, CA

Sarah joined the firm in 2005 after completing a Commerce Degree at Canterbury University. Prior to obtaining her accounting qualification she gained 12 years experience in the commercial banking industry.

She is a member of the CA College of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Sarah has experience providing accounting, taxation, systems and business advice. She has worked with a variety of ownership structures, with a diverse range of sizes and business activities. Most of these are owner operated or family enterprises Sarah has a special interest in helping start up businesses grow to the next level and enjoys the resulting relationships with her clients.

Outside Interests

Sarah enjoys time spent with her two young children Julia and Ben, supporting her husband Greg in his home renovation endeavors and gardening and travelling when time allows.
